Isobel Ross is a Dorset based artist and illustrator, originally from Bath. Her background is in fine art, but now she enjoys working in a more illustrative way. Much of Isobel’s work is based on childhood memories and she aims for joyful images, full of warmth and humour.
Her interest in social history and research led Isobel to her recent work “100 Lost Hotels” which are 100 illustrations of Bournemouth hotels that have been demolished or converted since 1968. These postcard sized illustrations became an exhibition, which was featured on BBC South Today.
Isobel illustrated a book for children, for the author Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara and is currently working on writing and illustrating a children’s book of her own. She would also like to enlarge “100 Lost Hotels” into a site specific community artwork.
Isobel is a collage artist but has been working more recently in digital media. She uses a collage effect to ‘build’ an image without using line and to keep to her own unique style.
