Elizabeth Mangles
Liz started her carving career in 1985 with a five-year apprenticeship making rocking horses before moving on to the demanding area of carousel animals. A chance commission for a carved sheep inspired the creation of Ethel – mother of all the Ewenique flock.
The Ewenique Furniture flock are a range of practical, sturdy and blissfully comfortable footstools who happen to be lifelike, near life-size, sheep. Created by Liz in a small workshop on the Island of Portland within sight and sound of the sea, Ewenique Furniture is a range of wonderfully quirky but practical and sturdy sheep-shaped footstools. They are hand-made and combine realistically carved heads with deeply luxurious British sheepskin coats.
