After a lifetime of teaching Art and Craft, Holly is now enjoying the opportunity to concentrate on producing her own ceramics. Using stoneware clay, she produces a range of pots, platters and planters, all based on a Jurassic theme.
The Dorset coastline never fails to inspire her and she enjoys using the fossil forms found along the cliffs and in rock pools.
The surface of the clay is impressed with found items from the shoreline. Sculpted forms, such as shells, fossils, seaweed, fish and crustaceans are then added for surface decoration. A range of oxides, underglazes, glaze and crushed glass are then used, which is high fired to produce an encrusted effect.
