Brendan Gallagher
Brendan Gallagher lives in Swanage and makes furniture and boxes in his garden workshop using traditional hand tools and joinery. Working with reclaimed timber as well as exotic woods, the design of each piece arises largely from the dimensions and figuring of the material to hand, with few, if any, sketches. Keeping hardware to a minimum, he uses hand crafted wooden hinges and brass pivots where appropriate. Brendan also makes hand turned pens in a wide variety of exotic timbers from around the world, as well as local sources – in particular reclaimed timber from the restoration of Swanage Pier and Studland pine cones.
